Jenny Allen

Trustee

I have been involved with SYEDA since 2006, when my daughter was diagnosed with anorexia. We both accessed the support groups, which we found invaluable. I did the Treading on Eggshells Course, this enabled me to work with Stephanie on her recovery. However, our daughter tragically died of anorexia while travelling abroad.

SYEDA was very supportive following her death, and acted as advocate in my discussions with the NHS regarding her care and treatment during her illness.

I was keen to assist SYEDA to help other families, sufferers and carers, to improve services for people affected by eating disorders. I was a member of the Service Users’ Advisory Group, then invited to join the Board in 2009, Chair from 2011-18, and now a Trustee.

I am a retired schoolteacher, I enjoy travelling, swimming, walking, voluntary work, reading, cooking and handicrafts. I support environmental issues & Fairtrade.
