Eating Disorders Practitioner (Counsellor)

 Salary: Band 5 (£29,970 - £36,483 FTE, dependent on experience)

Managerially accountable to: Clinical Manager

Term of contract: permanent

Job summary and purpose:

To deliver 1-2-1 therapy to individuals who are experiencing difficulties relating to their relationship with food and/or body image. The posts will deliver services from   our Sheffield location.

You will join our existing experienced team of ED Practitioners in providing treatment interventions to support people through their recovery with eating difficulties, body image difficulties and the negative thoughts that control and isolate people.

JOB SUMMARY

SYEDA has evolved over the years from a small self-help group for people with eating disorders (ED) into a regional organisation that is also a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Services currently offered include – support groups, CBT, talking therapies, occupational therapy, and a range of education/training programmes.

We deliver services across the whole of South Yorkshire with the majority of demand for our services currently in Sheffield. 

Working in partnership with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) across South Yorkshire, SYEDA will focus on providing a range of training, education and awareness raising activities to compliment and support the community eating disorder services across South Yorkshire helping to meet the ICP’s vision of ‘Everyone in our diverse communities lives a happy, healthier life for longer’.  

By developing a comprehensive training package of support, we will be able to evidence that we are working towards the ICP shared outcomes of ‘Best start in life for Children & Young People’, ‘Living healthier and longer lives AND improved wellbeing for those with greatest need’ and providing ‘People with the skills and resources they need to thrive’.

 Main purpose of the post:

The Trainer post will utilise clinical knowledge to develop and deliver a variety of training packages and resources to support healthcare and education professionals working across South Yorkshire so that they can recognise the early warning signs of an eating disorder presentation and be confident in providing the appropriate support and signpost appropriately. Workshop topics will be informed by engagement with patients and system partners.

Training will be delivered via several mediums including in person, on-line and via pre-recorded videos. The post will make effective use of all new technologies.

Diabetes and Eating Disorder Adult Clinical Dietetic Lead Role

Salary: Band 8a (£53,754- £60,503)

Please note this role is for 0.4 WTE (or equivalent in sessional time) as a secondment role.

Term: 2 year fixed term

Location: South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire Eating Disorder Association (SYEDA) is inviting expressions of interest from specialist eating disorder and diabetes dietitians who have experience of/or significant interest in diabetes and eating disorders with an excellent knowledge of clinical dietetics, considerable multi-professional working experience, and well-developed leadership skills. The role will be focused on providing leadership, training, upskilling the workforce and engagement of clinical teams across the wider South Yorkshire Eating Disorder Programme and clinical teams delivering diabetes care across South Yorkshire.

 This role is part of a South Yorkshire wide collaboration to develop and improve diabetes and eating disorder service provision. This collaboration provides system leadership, support and advice to health and social care systems in line with NHS England and NHS Improvement priorities.  We are bringing people together across professional, organisational, and geographical boundaries to share best practice, develop skills, challenges, and learning, and improve outcomes for patients and their families.  

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be involved in improving services and to support collaboration between commissioners, providers, service users and their parents and carers, voluntary organisations, and others to make a difference for people with diabetes and eating disorder or at risk of developing an eating disorder. You'll work as an autonomous practitioner and as a key member of the team, you'll help to shape the service along the way to provide the best care to our patients now and in the future.
